The Ubermom in action with M3

We’re the Calandro Clan: me (Eileen); my husband: John (the LOML -Love of My Life); and our three boys: M1, M2, and M3. It’s good to be a Calandro. We throw over-the-top parties, laugh a lot, and get ourselves in over our heads all the time. (Not financially over our heads – we just say yes first, and then freak out later. But that seems to be working for us.)

We view the process of raising our boys as one of the most important things we could ever do with our lives. We feel blessed to have them, and also very responsible for how much we can mess them up. We always joke that we will know we have done a good job as parents if they can afford their own therapy as grown adults. (We use humor as a crutch around here.) Seriously, though, parenting is tough stuff and I’m never quite sure if I’m doing the right thing. I’m just doing the best I can with the tools I have available at the time.

The LOML is a huge comic book fan. Always has been. Yep, he’s a nerd and I adore him for it. We have long discussions about the power of good and evil and the archetypes of personalities and how they are portrayed in literature and with superheroes. We’re not superheroes, but we can still fight for what’s right. That’s why we say, “Always use your powers for good” in the Calandro Clan. I’m trying to use the power of this blog, the process of parenting our boys, and our focus on our community to use our powers for good.

We think life is one Big Adventure after another. Opportunities keep knocking and we keep opening the door. Come along on the adventure of being a Calandro.

Hey! Just wanted to say thank you so much for speaking with our class today. I woke up this morning freaking out about all the assignments I had to finish but your attitude and enthusiasm really motivated me to bite the day in the butt! Thanks again!

Natalie! Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment here. I’m thrilled I could motivate you to “bite the day in the butt”. Right ON! I need that motivation some days myself ~I’m glad I could provide it for you.
Now I’m going to tell Mr. Schermer to give you some extra credit. ;)
Keep up the hard work ~it’s all worth it in the end. (No pun intended from your earlier butt comment.)
I hope our paths cross again sometime and thanks again!
